Just wanted to share my current setup. I modded my machine with an ESP32 brain to unlock features usually found in high-end gear.

Features in action:

Real-time Pressure Profiling: Using an AC Dimmer to modulate the pump. I can manually save and replay profiles.

Smart PID: Much more aggressive and accurate than standard controllers.

The "Eye Candy": The display shows live charts for pressure and flow. Watching the graph react instantly to the puck resistance is incredibly satisfying.

It’s not the prettiest wiring inside, but the shot quality is night and day. Cheers!

    Impressive!
Sorry for my lack of knowledge, but what machine is this?

What parts/hardware did you use for your mod? Would you mind sharing the schematic?

    *sipping pre-ground from my Stilosa*

    nice, very nice.

  3. Wild for you to assume that your skill and knowledge about this thing doesn’t add up to $3000 worth.

    All in all, very impressive!

Espresso32? Your micro must be overclocked

Firstly, this is awesome. And I admire people who have the ability to do such tinkering and mods.

But no matter how much you mod a Toyota, it’s still a Toyota. And someone that can afford a Porsche, is going to buy a Porsche regardless of what a souped up Toyota can do.

This is about perspective, not about features or functionality. And I am absolutely not knocking the OPs capabilities. Merely stating the obvious consumerism answer for “who needs a $3000 machine”.

I mean, if it has 8GB of RAM it could be worth $3000. 🙂

Interface the scale to the machine next?

  8. HiddenWalrus

You forgot to integrate the scale into the drip tray 😉

I’m eyeing a $4500 machine without those bells and whistles…….

  10. Comfortable_Date2862

Integrate an LLM into it and you will have $100m worth of investments before noon tomorrow.

Totally rad. Impressive and amusing. Give me ten!

I am new to actually pulling espresso but have been studying it for a couple of years, and this sounds really cool. I don’t understand everything, but it still sounds cool, lol.

“HONEY, THE RED LIGHT IS BLINKING AGAIN”

    “OK, HOW FAST?”

  14. Minion908

Ok, this is awesome! I would love to do something like this, and it looks great too.

You got any references or sources to follow? Might be fun to try out sometime

  16. melanthius

Damn this makes me want to mod my micra bad. Pressure profiling is the thing it’s missing. Awesome work

  17. Me! I have a $6000 machine and it does none of these things!

  18. bobjoylove

“Smart PID” means it adapts the coefficients during each run?

  19. This is a really cool project and the second time I see this post. I just wish OP would answer questions about the “how”. The questions keep coming up in the posts and no answer.

This is AMAZING. Do you mind posting a list of materials? I have a sage dual boiler I just modded with a custom valve for flow profiling and I’d love to automate it as you have

List of parts and a how-to assemble would make an excellent YouTube video

  22. Big_Bison_1368

I don’t have disposable income (at least not 4500 dollars worth) so I only have a 1000 dollar machine that produces good to great results. Very sad.

  23. Separate_Noise_8

I can do those graphs with my Etch A Sketch

  24. CultofCedar

I love tinkering but bought a Decent because I just wanted coffee and not a project. As cool as these things are you’re lying if you act like you can just slap something like this together for a few bucks on a whim lol.
